Jennifer Lawrence in “Catching Fire”.
This home, vacant as of 20 years ago located in Walton, KY, used to be occupied by a husband, his wife, and their 3 year old son. The father had a mental disorder and didn’t regularly treat it. The mother went into the barn to tend to their horses, leaving her husband to care for their child, who began to cry, enraging him. He then walked over to the crib and shot his child in the head out of anger. When his wife heard the shots and tried to run into the house, he shot and killed her too. Once he realized what he had done, He went out to the barn, shot and killed all of their horses, and then shot himself.
The house is said to now be haunted, and people claim that you can hear the son screaming and crying at night, and gunshots from the father. I have also heard people say the barn is the scariest place to be because hay bales will start to fall by themselves.
If you go into the home now you can see that the authorities didn’t clean up the blood behind where i’m assuming the crib was (second photo), and there was also a bloody hand print behind the front door (third photo). I, the photographer (impactings), was there today exploring and also noticed some of the child’s toys laying around the house. There was an Elmo boom box, a plastic air plane, and as seen in the second to last photo there was a small bike and chair in one of the empty horse stalls. Yes, the house is known for being haunted but it was honestly just very sobering to me to see the boy’s things lying around in shattered glass and dirt.
People go there all the time now and vandalize the place, party and stay the night there, and there was some pretty great graffiti done. Props to the people who had written they had stayed the night there on a Friday the 13th in 2013 because even walking through there during the day made me uneasy.
